Why start Oakland Rockstars?
There are many club volleyball options in the Bay Area. We are an affordable choice within Oakland city limits. We are excited to make connections with families and between families to form a volleyball community that will make a positive contribution in kids’ lives and our city.
What are the different skill levels?
Beginner - for those who are new to volleyball or have never even tried it before! This clinic is especially designed for 4th-5th graders and will use Volleylite balls that do not hurt kids' forearms as much. We will focus on passing, setting, serving, and attacking.
Intermediate - This is for middle school students who ideally have some prior experience. We will focus on developing solid ball control and also introduce blocking, digging, jump serves, etc.
Advanced - Upper middle school and lower high school players who have club or varsity experience are invited to come to our advanced clinic. For this one, players should be able to play at least one position in a 6-2 or 5-1 offense.
Where can I fill out the waiver?
Here is the waiver that must be filled out for all clinic participants.
Where are clinics located?
In the gym at First Covenant Church, Oakland which is located right next to the Safeway at Lincoln Square in the Redwood Heights neighborhood. When you arrive, drive all the way up the driveway and follow it as it curves to the left around an island in the parking lot. The double doors that you see on the large building lead to the gym.
If you are taking public transit, there is a 54 AC Transit bus stop on Redwood Road right in front of the church.
Can I stay rather than dropping off?
Sure! We have some seating in our gym and some tables and benches on the patio outside.
Can I drop off my other child(ren) there for you to watch as well?
We are unable to provide supervision for non-registered minors. However, siblings are welcome to stay and watch our camp if supervised by a parent.
What if I cannot pickup on time?
We pay our coaches hourly, so for every 15 minutes in which they are late being picked up there will be a $15 charge.
Do I need to be religious to attend?
No, not at all. Some of our coaches are church members, but the focus of these clinics is volleyball.
Is financial assistance available?
Yes! We don't want finances to be a barrier for anyone. Please contact us through the link below for details.
